BASIC Expert conducted a risk assessment to determine the likelihood and consequence of fire spread through installed combustible cladding on the building and and proposed a risk mitigation strategy involving a partial retention of combustible cladding and the removal of ACP-PE (aluminum composite paneling with a polyethylene core) where it is used in extensive unbroken expanses. We leveraged our expertise at the Building Appeals Board under s 160(2)(b) of the Building Act 1993 for determinations to secure a favourable decision to modify, subject to the remedial work, Clause 3.1(b) of Specification C1.1 of the Building Code of Australia 2007, Volume One (‘BCA’) to not apply to the existing aluminium composite panel cladding (‘ACP’) and western red cedar timber cladding (‘Cedar Cladding’) installed on the external façades of the subject building.
