Edwin Dodd
Engineer
Edwin Dodd is a fire safety engineer and professional career firefighter with over 30 years of experience in the fire industry. He was recognized with a Commissioner’s Commendation for his contributions on the fire ground.
As an operational firefighter with Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV), Edwin has gained a practical understanding of firefighter behaviour, both within the station and during incidents. His experience in the MFB's Community Safety Technical Department has provided him with valuable insights into client-side issues.
At Basic Expert, Edwin leverages his extensive experience in fire safety engineering and firefighting to deliver peer reviews for the Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service. He ensures that projects are evaluated comprehensively from a fire safety engineering perspective, considering the practical challenges faced by fire brigade operations.
During his time at TESG, Edwin led the planning and execution of systems interface tests, ensuring alignment with approved documentation. He directly supervised tradesmen during testing and managed defect rectification processes. In addition to his engineering expertise, Edwin is a qualified electrician, having completed his apprenticeship and built his electrical career in fire detection.
Edwin also served as the Fire Package Engineer for the Gorgon Gas Project, overseeing the engineering, procurement and construction management of a fire detection system consisting of 150 networked fire panels.
